Upvc Front doors
The
UPVC Front Door is sometime called a cellular PVC door. This door is made up of a upvc outer frame that should always be reinforced and in it is hung a door sash or door leaf. The reason for this reinforcing is that a door leaf is heavy item especially if it is fully glazed and a good working practice is to screw all the hinges and door hardware into metal inside the external outer frame. Reinforcing should also be standard on all woodgrain and coloured doors. It helps prevent warping and distortion of the door. Many years ago some companies never put reinforcing in coloured doors and the owners (especially of south facing homes) complained of sticking doors. This was due to the darker colour upvc doors expanding in the heat. The solution was then to soak your door with a hosepipe and cool it down. Not the best idea especially with the hose pipe bans. Now days however with the advance of profile designs and upvc compounds these problems are not so prevalent.
Exterior Front Doors come in a range of styles and colours that can easily be incorporated into the style of your front porch design.
There are so many designs and styles of panels these days that you will be spoilt for choice. But don't forget the obvious a classic full blade glass door with a simple leaded pattern can be just as effective and let in a lot of light to that dark hallway.
A Replacement panel for your door is an affordable way to change the style of your door entry and with the addition of new replacement door hardware such as a chrome letter box and chrome door handle a new look can easily be created.
