Conservatory Back Doors
Back Doors
Back Doors tend to come in two styles. With a midrail and with out a midrail. Midrails are the joining bar across a door.
Back doors tend to be forgotten when it comes to house design. Most back doors are plain in comparison to the fancy panelled front doors but this doesn’t have to be the case.
To start with look at where your back door is positioned. If it is opening out onto the wall of your neighbours house or the side of the garage why not consider an obscure glass to hide the wall.
If you have a cat and want a cat flap for tiddles to hop in and out of make sure that you select a design with a flat panel in the bottom so a catflap can be easily fitted. If you want a mid-railed door you don’t have to settle for a plain flat panel there are loads of raised pattern panels you just need to ask your door designer.
As with any door all glass has to be toughened and any windows attached to them have to be toughened as well. Its just common-sense really if it slams shut it wont break into dangerous shards of glass it will break like a car window screen.
Local Conservatory Tip
There are many different types of thresholds for doors so select the one that’s good for your needs. Low thresholds are exactly that but this doesn’t mean that they are good for wheel chairs. For wheel chair access a part M compliant threshold is the one to ask for.
