Furniture layout and design for conservatories
What furniture type do you need for your conservatory?
Conservatories just seem to call for wicker furniture, but you can break with tradition and with the right flooring selection you can give the conservatory a much more luxurious feel.
Our first piece of advice is to decide what the conservatory is to be used for. This will influence all the other decisions!
Don’t worry about the furniture, design the conservatory correctly and you will be able to use it for a multiple of uses.
If you are reading this expecting us to choose your coverings for your conservatory furnishings forget it!
All we ask you to think about is the use of the conservatory and how over time that may change so why not design your conservatory to make the most of it.
Let’s start with the basics of the conservatory layout considerations, which design type is the best. The answer is none of them they all have there specific advantages and disadvantages.
If you use our design service you will get tips and advice as you go along but in general Victorian conservatories (the ones that have a front like a 20p piece) don’t really fit sofa’s in unless they are quite big (4mts x 4mts +) or the wide front design.

Where would you put the sofa? One to think about!
If you choose a conservatory style like an Edwardian (flat sides like a shoe box) you are much more likely to have more options of where to put your furniture.
But don’t be fooled , door position is equally important, the correct selection of conservatory can soon be ruined by incorrect door position.
The first rule of door selections usually starts with, do you want the doors from your house into your conservatory to open into the conservatory or back into your house to maximise the conservatories open space. What about a sliding folding door for maximum effect?

Moving the doors gives you so many more options
The next choice is where to put your doors out onto your garden or decking. (Remember to specify your doors especially if they are double doors with the slave and master door the facing the right way. So you go out your of door and down your garden and not walk around your non opening slave door.)
If you are planning to put a TV in your conservatory think about its position carefully. Glare from the sun is much more likely in a conservatory. Who wants a reflection whilst watching the tennis on a glorious summer’s day with the windows open and nice glass of cold beer?
